So this Legendary New Orleans DJ I've been friends with since we shared the stage on the February 2010 edition of Soundclash in New Orleans (note: The picture on my 2010 album THE ATLANTA CHRONICLES is from the very same night). Lately he's been blessing us with a series of Facebook Live videos showing off the extensive record collection and the veteran skills.
One of those such mixes caught my attention back in April, 2018. His intent was to show to the younger generation the various Jazz Funk grooves that enrich our music history. IMO he definitely succeeded, and this is why I present this to you.

For all of you tuning in on Podomatic and iTunes, I know it's been a while since I have posted an episode, but I definitely have the right presentation for You!

An old friend, fellow native New Iberian, and New Orleans Stalworth DJ Tony Skratchere has blessed this show with a 90 minute mix, that is apparently somewhat autobiographical. With music from the 70's to the late 90's, you are definitely sure to enjoy this. I provide music for part one of this episode.

Among all the musical talents that have passed away in 2016, so far, these are the two biggest. One, shortly after releasing his latest album, and the other shortly after starting a surprise solo tour.
Between them, there is a legacy of about 70 albums, 39 major award wins, millions of records soul, and being celebrated within the same 38 year period (David has an extra 10 years) like few others have. I decided to try not to go typical with the cliched tribute music (no Purple Rain or Ziggy Stardust here), but explore more of their influences and who they influenced....
